HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR HUD IN SECOND LIFE
Follow these 4 simple steps to deploy your compiled HUD inside Second Life or OpenSim.
Create Root Prim
Rez a flat box prim (0.5m x 0.5m x 0.01m) on the ground. This will be your HUD Root Prim (Link 1).
Link Child Buttons
Rez individual prims or mesh buttons corresponding to your design. Select child prims first, select the Root Prim LAST, and press Ctrl+L to link.
Drop Generated LSL
Copy the compiled script from Vortex HUD Designer, create a new script inside the Root Prim inventory, and paste the code.
Attach to Avatar HUD
Right-click the linked object in your inventory, select Attach to HUD, and choose your target screen point (e.g. HUD Bottom Center).
HUD DESIGNER & LSL QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Vortex HUD Designer assigns the Root Prim as Link 1 and automatically indexes child buttons and indicators sequentially (Link 2, Link 3, Link 4...). The compiled LSL script uses llDetectedLinkNumber() in the single root script to dispatch actions, eliminating the need for separate scripts in every prim.
Yes. Vortex HUD Designer includes built-in minimise and expand floater mechanics. The script generator outputs optimised llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast() calls for instant alpha and scale toggles without frame lag.
Yes. All generated LSL code is 100% compliant with Second Life Mono and OpenSim XEngine. It uses single-script root routing, timer throttles, and zero-polling event listeners to ensure minimal server script time.
The ZIP bundle contains the core LSL controller script, the floater draggable sub-script, the sound trigger dispatcher, the full HUD layout JSON configuration, and a step-by-step Second Life building guide.
