The Enemy Recovery Cycle

The Enemy Recovery Cycle

Unlike traditional wilderness threats, hostile entities in Vortex do not perish permanently or despawn upon defeat. Instead, they enter a mandatory Recovering Phase.

The Recovering State

When an enemy's Health Points reach 0%, it instantly triggers its recovery mode. During this phase, the entity displays a status indicator overhead reading "Status: Recovering...".

Rules of Recovery

  • Invulnerability: The entity cannot suffer any further damage while recovering. Attacks with machetes, axes, or firearms will be completely ignored.
  • Pacifism: The entity is unable to strike or chase survivors during this time.
  • Ambient Wandering: The entity will only wander around the local environment at a calm speed.

Recovery Duration

The recovering phase lasts for a randomised duration between 3 and 5 minutes (180 to 300 seconds). Once this timer elapses, the entity restores its health bar back to 100% (HP: 100 / 100) and resumes active threat detection.
